Development Associate Producer Job Description
Summary:
Archipelago Productions is a Toronto-based brand and entertainment company dedicated to an eclectic slate and meaningful partnerships with a diverse range of talented emerging and mid-career creatives. Our entertainment division is looking to expand our development department, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to our genre and format agnostic slate.
The role of Development Associate Producer will report directly to the Head of Development and will support with administrative, production, sales, and development related tasks. In the long term, this position has an opportunity for upward mobility within the entertainment division.
This is a full-time salaried position with health benefit coverage. This role involves working with internal and external creatives in supporting the growth of our division. The Development Associate Producer will be expected to work in-office from our studio in Toronto’s West End. They will be required to be on set and attend industry events outside of typical work hours as needed. We are looking for a self-starter who is looking to take ownership over their role and further their career in the Film & Television Industry.
Job Skills & Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years experience in Film & TV development or production
- At least one Associate Producer or Producer credit on a Film, Web, or TV Series
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Growth mindset and adaptability

- Good industry knowledge and personal creative taste
- Comprehensive understanding of Canadian broadcast mandates and international network, buyer, and streamer strategies

- Copywriting experience is an asset
Responsibilities Will Include:
Development
- Research for projects in development
- Tracking, filling, script coverage and analysis for incoming submissions
- Managing relationships with external creators who have submitted their work
- Prepping pitch decks including copywriting and graphic design work
- Assist with tracking and executing funding application submissions
- Ensuring that pitch decks, budget proposals, grant applications are completed to a high standard
- Sit in on development meetings and meetings with creatives taking notes and sending out actionable items to producers
- Provide collaborators with regular updates and ensure project deadlines are clearly communicated to team members and are met on time
Production
- Working with the Head of Production, Production Managers, and Coordinators to communicate and execute plans for production, including schedules, crewing, post production, etc.
- Play a pivotal role in production (Line producing or production managing, for example) depending on project needs
- Production assistance on set during production days
- Work with the production coordinator on any production related tasks such as call sheets, deal memos, location releases etc.
Sales
- Recognizing and researching trends in the market for film, network TV and streamers
- Festival and award submissions and tracking
- Organization of delegate list and setting up meeting for producers
- Market research
- Notify producers of upcoming markets and sales opportunities
- Sit in on sales and strategy meetings to take notes and provide actionable items to producers afterwards
Administration
- Meeting notes and distribution
- Scheduling meetings for producers with internal and external partners
- Building out Monday.com boards and trackers to improve efficiency and organization
- Tracking funding applications and coordinating deliverables well ahead of deadlines
- Calendar management for projects and funding deadlines
- Assist in any other aspects of the work of Archipelago as reasonably required
Salary and Benefits:
- Full-time, in-studio position (Toronto)
- $55K Salary
- Optional 4 day work week (8am to 6pm, Monday to Thursday)
